ESSEX News

ESSEX judges Georgia Tech Senior Class Mechanical Engineering Design Projects.

ESSEX was once again invited to participate in the judging of the Senior Design Projects at the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech.

Named the Capstone Design Expo, the presentations were a public review of the student design work.  The judging took place on Thursday, April 29, 2010.  The three teams receiving the top scores from the judges received cash prizes.  Designs included a steam engine to power water pumps in Central America, a piezoelectric de-icing system for airplane wings, an automated safety face shield for bike helmets, a regenerative braking system for golf carts, a moving dolly that could “walk” up stairs, recovery devices for oil well drill heads and many other projects.

Congratulations to all the participants for their hard work on the innovative projects.

ESSEX strikes "Gold"

ESSEX has received notification that two of its commissioning projects have been awarded LEED "GOLD" certification ratings.  One, a ten-year old commercial office tower was awarded a "Gold" rating in the LEED EB category and the other, a new specialty purpose facility was awarded a "Gold" rating in the LEED NC category.  One project was for retro commissioning, and the other was commissioning of new construction in addition to LEED consulting services.
