Historic Restoration & Building Regeneration
ESSEX has as its mission the care and keeping of existing buildings. It is our focus to find ways to improve and restore the operation of buildings of any age that meet or can meet today's needs.
Our depth of experience with building materials, materials and systems failures and the causes of these, gives us a unique opportunity to be of service to building owners and the work of historic restoration.
Occasionally, buildings are not historically or architecturally significant and therefore do not warrant restoration. But often these buildings are worth saving for new uses. In there cases, ESSEX approaches the project as a regeneration project.
Building Regeneration is ESSEX's term for bringing existing buildings up to new operating standards and providing for a new building use.
These services include:
- Upgrades to building systems to meet current or new tenant demands
- Repositioning the building for a new market or user
- Adaptive reuse of a building
- LEED Retro Commissioning
- A general overhaul of systems and components to extend the useful life, serviceability and reliability of a building.
Regeneration should be an on-going process throughout the life of a building. This is especially true today as changes in building components, fixtures, and automated control systems occur at an accelerated pace and with increasing levels of refinement and efficiency.
